Puerto Blest, Los Cántaros Waterfall and Lake Frías
Full-day boat trip along the Blest arm of Lake Nahuel Huapi, with the Los Cántaros waterfall, the Valdivian rainforest and Lake Frías.
Description
The boat leaves Puerto Pañuelo, on the Llao Llao peninsula, and sails west along the Blest arm of Lake Nahuel Huapi. On the way it passes the Centinela islet, where the remains of Francisco Moreno are buried.
At Los Cántaros a stepped trail climbs through Valdivian rainforest, the wettest woodland in the country, to the waterfall and on to Lake Los Cántaros, past an alerce more than 1,500 years old. The forest here is thick with bamboo cane, ferns and moss.
From Puerto Blest a short road transfer reaches Lake Frías, whose green water comes down from the glaciers of Cerro Tronador and carries the fine sediment that gives it the colour. The day ends sailing back to Puerto Pañuelo. The trails have steps and uneven ground.
