El Bolsón and Lake Puelo
Full day along Route 40 to El Bolsón and Lake Puelo, with the craft market, the soft fruit farms and the turquoise water of the lake.
Description
El Bolsón sits 129 kilometres south of Bariloche on Route 40. The road is paved the whole way and runs past Lakes Gutiérrez, Mascardi and Guillelmo, crossing the Villegas, Foyel and Quemquentreu rivers before dropping into the valley.
The town is known for its craft market on Plaza Pagano, held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and for the farms around it that grow soft fruit and turn it into jam. Cheese and craft beer are the other things the valley is known for, and there is free time to try them.
Sixteen kilometres further south, already in the province of Chubut, is Lake Puelo and its national park, a mild pocket in the Andes where the water takes on a turquoise tone. The drive back to Bariloche is along the same road, arriving in the late afternoon.

A panoramic stop at this natural viewpoint before dropping into the El Bolsón valley.

Free time around Plaza Pagano and its well known craft market, to try the local beers or have lunch (not included).

Across into the province of Chubut to this turquoise lake, known for its mild microclimate and its pitra woods.

Back to Bariloche
The drive back to the city, reaching your hotel in the afternoon.
