Victoria Island and the Arrayanes Forest
Boat trip across Lake Nahuel Huapi to Victoria Island and the Arrayanes Forest, two of the best known corners of the national park.
Description
The boat leaves from Puerto Pañuelo, on the Llao Llao peninsula, and crosses Lake Nahuel Huapi towards the two places most associated with the park.
The first landing is on Victoria Island, the largest in the lake, where marked trails run through coihue and cypress woods and past a nursery of conifers planted in the 1930s. There is free time ashore before boarding again.
The second stop is the Arrayanes Forest, on the Quetrihué peninsula, inside the national park of the same name. A raised boardwalk crosses a stand made up almost entirely of arrayanes, with cinnamon coloured bark that is cold to the touch, a combination found in very few places. The trip ends sailing back to Puerto Pañuelo. The walking is easy, on trails and boardwalk, and the outing takes around five hours.
