Full-day safari in 4x4 vehicles through the Quebrada del Toro and the Puna, following the route of the Train to the Clouds to San Antonio de los Cobres.
Description
Movietrack is a safari in 4x4 vehicles that runs up the Quebrada del Toro, following much of the route of the Train to the Clouds. The drive passes mountain villages, the remains of old railway stations and the open landscape of the Salta Puna.
There is a stop at Santa Rosa de Tastil and its archaeological site, one of the largest pre-Inca settlements in the country, before the road climbs to San Antonio de los Cobres at more than 3,700 metres. Depending on the route of the day, it also reaches viewpoints over the La Polvorilla viaduct, above 4,000 metres.
It is a full-day outing in vehicles built for mountain roads and gravel. The altitude is noticeable, so warm clothing and drinking water through the day both help.
