Half day at Cerro Catedral, the largest ski centre in South America, 20 kilometres from Bariloche, with a guide and free time at the base.
Description
Cerro Catedral is the largest ski centre in South America and the best known mountain around Bariloche. The tour reaches the base area, at 1,030 metres above sea level and around 20 kilometres from the town centre, where a small village of shops and cafes has grown at the foot of the slopes.
In winter the mountain works as a full resort, with lifts, rental shops and ski schools. For the rest of the year it turns into a viewpoint: the chairlift and the cable car, which are not included, carry visitors up towards the ridge for panoramic views over Lake Gutierrez, Lake Nahuel Huapi and the surrounding range.
There is time at the base to walk around, have a coffee or look out from the terraces before the return to Bariloche. Mountain biking, horse riding and trekking also start here and are arranged separately. Bookings close 72 hours before departure.
